you happen in the moment

Many years ago I sent a friend a photo of myself in Mexico. The friend asked, “what’s happening in Mexico?”

“I’m happening,” I said.

I surprised myself by saying this. It was not something I was conscious of, however, as soon as I said it I knew it to be true.

A couple of days ago, a dear friend left me a message. Her voice, excitedly sharing her own I’m Happening story.

She had scheduled an appointment to get her haircut. This friend has very short hair and has kept it short for a long time.

On the day of her appointment, she realized she did not want to get her hair cut. It had grown a bit and it was wavy and she was loving it.

As she realized this, she wondered to herself who could she call to make sure it was okay for her to cancel the appointment.

In the moment, she realized how hilarious this notion was that she needed someone else’s permission and simply canceled it. She said it felt amazing.

This seems like such a simple thing. But it is not. It is huge and profound and life changing. LITERALLY.

This is how we HAPPEN in REAL TIME. We are living our lives, doing what we do. Then, we have a revelation that counters what we have always done.

This isn’t about my friend deciding to cancel her haircut. It is about her noticing in real time, and then interrupting, an energy pattern. In this case, the pattern of seeking permission outside of Self.

As we do this, opportunities for awareness grow. And so do we.

When we GO WITH THE REVELATION, this is how we EVOLVE. This is how WE HAPPEN IN THE MOMENT.
